Pride & Prejudice Pages
My senior year of college, I stopped at a tiny thrift store in middle-of-nowhere Atchison, KS, where I picked up an authentically vintage copy of one of my favorite books: Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen. Cutting it up was more painful than I could have expected, but sparked a series of ink sketches I now cherish.
My process is simple. I decide on a reference photo and a page from the book, carefully remove the page and draw a preliminary sketch on a separate piece of paper. I transfer a light outline of the sketch to the book page and then free draw the details using Micron art pens.
This series is available as prints and merchandise on Society6.com/RebeccaLoomis.
Fandom in Ink
Shortly after the superhero movie craze began with Marvel's The Avengers, I let out my inner nerd and created a series of digital paintings depicting each of the original Avengers. Though I made them for my own entertainment, I was pleasantly surprised when they became an instant hit! As more Marvel characters appeared in Phase Two, I branched off from strictly the Avengers, and began to include characters from my other fandoms, including Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor from Rogue One, A Star Wars Story (depicted on right).
These simple, black and white vectors are recognizable by their crisp and clean ink-splatter style, which I make with my Wacom Intuous artist's tablet and Adobe Illustrator. They are available as prints and merchandise from Societ6.com/RebeccaLoomis.
